Buy a Boat
This is obviously the most costly option and not always possible. I've heard that financing can be reasonable, but after that you must consider possible boat trailer, boat storage, dock fees, gas, and maintenance.
Phone a Friend
They say the thing that is even better than having a boat is having a friend (or family member) with a boat. If you are lucky enough to be invited on a boat, remember to ask what you can bring and that you are typically on the captain's schedule.
My good friend, Luis Herron, would be happy to customize the day trip of your dreams. Luis is awesome. By the end of the trip, he'll be your friend, too! Call or message Luis to book a trip: 252-646-9730.
Rent a Boat
I wish our area had a "boating club" like I've heard about in other areas, but we do have places where you can rent a boat. Ask google!
Take the LookOut Catamaran Cruise
I've taken this several times and it is very enjoyable and easy! If you take the all day trip, lunch is catered by Beaufort Grocery. What more can you ask?!
Book a Ferry
Ferry services are available to and from several locations!

One great alternative to "beach" days is spending days at the shore. We are lucky that the Crystal Coast offers us so many options!
Below are a few of our favorite shore locations in Morehead City, NC and why:
Fairly large public waterway area. Sandbar comes out at low tide. Great place to take kids and/or dogs.
Parking available at nearby Shevans Park if street parking is full. Plus, you can play at the park and use the restrooms!
Public dock and restrooms available. Downtown Morehead is walkable.
The closest feeling to going to Shack or the Cape without a boat. The water is generally calm, there is an ample parking lot, and bathrooms are available.
I love a good beach day as much as the next girl, but some days it just isn't practical or possible by myself with the kiddos. Take me to the Shore!
The Crystal Coast does not offer any public pools that I am aware of. But, there are plenty of neighborhood pools, club pools, and private pools in the area.
No pool, no problem! Fortunately, the Atlantic Beach Town Park opened in 2017. This park offers a SPLASH PAD, two playground areas, miniature golf, and skatepark. As an added bonus, the park offers free Wifi.
The Splash Pad, Mini Golf, and Concessions are open during the summer season and closed during the off season.
Bring your bathing suit and your family for free fun in the sun!
The town of Beaufort also has plans in the works for a Splash Pad soon.
More Splash Pads = More Fun!
